DSST Public Speaking Practice Exam

The primary purpose of using note cards in public speaking is to provide a quick reference for key points. Note cards serve as a tool for speakers to outline their main ideas and important details in an organized manner, which helps them stay on track during their presentation. By having key points highlighted on note cards, speakers can easily glance at them to remember the flow of their speech and ensure they cover all necessary information without losing the audience's interest.

This method allows speakers to maintain eye contact with the audience while still having the support to recall specific details, leading to a more engaging and confident delivery. Note cards are designed to aid in smooth transitions between points, rather than being a crutch for memorization or an extensive script. By using them effectively, speakers can create a more dynamic interaction with their audience.
